Being overtaken both from left AND right side while going to Altstetten
Two lanes road. Right side: ramp to Hardbrücke, left side: direction Altstetten.
On bike, to go to Altstetten I need to ride on the right side of the left lane, hence in the middle of the road. Very dangerous to be overtaken from the left AND from the right side by cars going to Hardbrücke.
Furthermore, many cars coming from Altstetten do U-turns by crossing the bus lanes to go to Hardbrücke, irrespective of bikers.

Better to take Stauffacherstrasse->Bullingerstrasse->Baslerstrasse on this stretch of road. Hohlstrasse is suicide along that area.

If you drive in the left lane, block cars coming from behind by driving in the middlle of the lane for your own safety.

You're correct.
We just have to be aware of the cars overtaking on the left by going over the bus/tram line and suddenly turning right back on the road when they realize a bus is coming from behind...
